Norton Internet Security 2012 Review

Maybe you haven’t heard, but the company behind Norton Antivirus – Symantec – was founded in 1989. Their first anti-virus product was established in 1990 and the first Norton release was published back in 2004.

The company has been developing antivirus software from a long time, and we can say they have gained a lot of experience in this field. But let’s focus on the current release – Norton Internet Security 2012.

I have already installed the Norton Internet Security 2012 – 1 User 3PC on the three PCs at home, and I’m totally satisfied.

There are many free internet security programs that are claiming to protect you, but Norton Internet Security is beyond them. In its previous versions, Norton Internet Security was very good at detecting and stopping commonly threatening cookies and adware. In the 2012 version, the protection has improved. Everytime when you download a file, it is checked for malicious infections. Besides the huge virus database, NIS has many other factors for recognizing the attacks.

Browse the internet without worries – If you are working with important information on your computer (just like me and my household), you are more likely to be attacked from hackers. Norton will protect your e-mails and instant messages from all kind of viruses, infected attachments and other dangers. With Norton Internet Security 2012 you can safely browse bank and online shopping websites.

Norton in search results – everyday we are using search engines like Google. Everytime you type your search in Google, Norton will mark results that are safe to open, and warn you about results that are dangerous and you should not open. I.e. Norton will show you that websites like Amazon are safe for use, but if there is a website that is scamming people, Norton will directly cross it out. This is highly advantageous for the regular user.

Norton is easy to use and it will not slow down your PC - Norton I.S. 2012 doesn’t seem to slow down my computer at all, unlike some other programs that I will not mention. What is more, it gives great feedback from time to time, like processes that might be using a lot of your CPU resources.

However, I had some problems with one of the computers at home, because it was running an old version of Windows XP. I had to contact Norton’s support concerning the issue. We managed to resolve the problems very quickly. Their customer support is on a great level.

Protection for Kids – Norton Internet Security 2012 is also an impressive solution if you want to protect your kids from all kind of undesired content. It will let you block inappropriate websites, in order to prevent your kids from accessing them. This is very good feature, because, for example, a friend of mine was about to purchase two independant software programs for this purpose – Internet Security software, and Kids Safety Software. However, these two programs proved incompatible, and he decided to buy Norton Internet Security instead.

Norton Internet Security 2012 comapred to the old versions

Personally, I haven’t tried the older versions of Norton Internet Security, but I managed look up information and compare them.

• Many people say that the interface has improved alot and is not as cluttered as the previous version.
• Installation and updating is running smoothly.
• Renewing and moving from the old version to the new is easier.
• The price is much more affordable.
